He explained every step of the process, very professionally and politely. The young man, Jack, who brought the car to me was not a salesman, and made no effort to pressure me at all. I set up the whole process in the middle of the night, got a phone call in the morning verifying what I wanted, and had the car brought to me the following morning to test drive. Buying a car from Shift was, by far, the most painless buying experience I've ever experienced. I have bought about 2 dozen cars in my lifetime, almost all of them from traditional car dealerships. I did purchase a car from Shift a couple of years ago but NEVER EVER again will I use or recommend Shift. At least I'm glad I didn't purchase it because even though they give you 7 days to return for any reason, I can only imagine how frustrating that would be for a customer trying to get their money back and return a car to them. They will not give me any name of a person, they just told me they created a case and that I will receive an email and someone from Customer Service will contact me and that they would refund my card (we will see how long that takes). I have been getting the run around trying to create a customer case for a formal complaint. Now I have been trying to contact Aryn my customer service rep and I cannot get in touch with her. Nothing was ever told to me that the car could be sold even if I paid for the appointment. I never got a phone call/text telling me this and I never was contacted that the car was being sold to give me the opportunity to purchase it first since I thought putting money down for an appointment would at least give me first chance at the car. ![]() When I called they told me they cancelled the appointment because the car was sold. I arrived for our appointment 30 mins early and they never showed up. My appointment was for Saturday and the prior Thursday was when I last exchanged emails with Shift and everything was on schedule. I am in San Jose CA and since we were out of their area to schedule a home test drive, I purchased a Shift Pass and arranged to meet at a relatives house in Tracy, CA. This experience was extremely frustrating as both online estimates were not even close to the last offer of $15K. We expressed our frustration and the sales team were surprised as well and sent communications from the manager of the hub to the sales district (I think this is what they were called)? The sales district ultimately came back with an offer of $15k, which was not enough based on our son’s budget. We were very shocked and my son then did another quick online estimate, which came out to $17,500, which was still much higher than the $13,300. The appraisal came back at $13,300 (got dinged down $300 for a couple scratches, which was expected), but to our surprise this was nowhere near the $18,300 which we were offered last week (this offer expired on July 14th). In fact, another customer representative came by, asked if we were being helped and also offered to do the car appraisal while we were waiting for our salesperson. ![]() They were very understanding despite how busy they were and brought the car around for us to check out again as they were working through customers to get to us. We arrived at the Sacramento hub, which was busy. They did this and dropped it off at the Sacramento hub.įast forward about a week, July 16 which was our new appointment date to trade-in our car and purchase the Corvette. In addition, we asked if they could drive the car up to Sacramento so we would not have to drive down to Oakland. As we live in the Sacramento area, I asked if we could reserve the car, to which they agreed and with a small fee of $250 we reserved the car. The Shift representative was excellent, and ultimately could not sell the car to us this day, because they needed to fix this issue before purchase. We drove down to take a test drive last Sunday (July 10th) and upon inspection observed the passenger side window did not go up after lowering it. We completed the online financing and received the estimate for trade-in at $18,300. The opportunity presented itself in Oakland, CA where he found a 2008 Corvette for sale. My son has been working to pay off his Subaru WRX, with the hope of trading it in to purchase his first Corvette. However, upon our third purchase things did not go well. Both transactions went very smoothly and professionally. Let me begin by stating our household has purchased 2 cars from SHIFT: 2017 Audi Q7 and a 2016 Subaru WRX. ![]()
